Carlsberg teamed up with advertising agency Fold7 and Mission Media to bring a great campaign where a beer tap was in front of a poster. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the campaign, but realised it would never work in South Africa for two main reasons.
- South African cities don’t have the foot traffic that European cities do. South African city centres are run down and poverty stricken. The only “well off” folk that occupy them are hipsters and we all know they only drink craft beer.
- South African consumers can’t be trusted. Imagine a beer tap in the middle of Cape Town. It would only be a matter of time until some guy rolled up with a barrel to collect enough beer to have a good night with his buddies.
