When Robert Walker, a good friend and the CEO of the Jukwaa Group, told me that he was putting on a Crossfit event I thought he was kidding. Rob had just started Crossfit and I thought it was part of the hazing ritual, but it wasn’t. Rob went on to organise Last Man Standing – A Crossfit Radium Challenge at Centurion last year and followed up with a team event and the second individual event last weekend at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
Luckily for me, Rob asked me to assist with the social media last year and I couldn’t have been happier to do so. As many of my stories start, there I was having a drink but this time it was at the Walker’s house. When Rob pitched me the idea, I offered to do the social media as it was something that I was doing for a career at the time. Weirdly enough, Rob agreed and we started planning and prepping for the first Last Man Standing.
Here we are a year later and I must admit the event is growing from strength to strength. I was ecstatic when Rob asked me to help again. I was privileged enough to work with Ruby Wolff photography this year, such a talented couple doing their thing.
Jukwaa have done an amazing job and given the Crossfit community something to look forward to every year.
